Dear Parents and Guardians,
As our school grows, the matter of safe school drop-offs and collection for students becomes ever more important and
ever more challenging. Some of our staff have expressed concerns regarding the safety of students at the end of the
school day, which I think is important to bring to your attention.
I appreciate that the roads around the school at the beginning and end of the school day are busy, and parents and
guardians sometimes find themselves in a hurry to get to work on time, however, the safety of our children is paramount
and must take priority over the needs of parents and guardians who are running late.
There are still a significant number of parents and guardians who are double-parking, particularly on Waterway Boulevard.
This is not only dangerous but also holds up traffic and prevents other parents from being able to exit the Kiss n’ Go. If
this continues, I will have no choice but to request that Melton Police send patrols to the school to ensure parents and
guardians are following the road rules.
More concerning is that some parents and guardians continue to get their children to exit their vehicles on the road. This
means their children are moving between cars that might suddenly pull out. I am concerned that one of our students is
going to get seriously injured.
The area directly out the front of the school on Waterway Boulevard is a short-term drop-off zone. Melton City Council
have been clear with us that parents and guardians must not leave their vehicles there to walk their children into school.
The waiting area on Brewer Way next to the school is not a parking area. This was designated as a waiting area for the
parents and guardians who are using the kiss n’ go. Parents and guardians parking here will become a major problem for
the effective use of the kiss n go. Please do not park here while you collect or take your children to or from school. (see
map below)
It is important to remember that we request parents and guardians to enter the Kiss n’ Go from the southern end of
Brewer Way. This avoids parents and guardians jumping the queue, which causes frustration for others and stops traffic
backing up on Waterway Boulevard, causing a traffic hazard.
Some of our new parents and guardians might not be aware that the two school car parks are only for staff. These are not
general car parks for the community, and if you use them, your car might be locked in.
The children should only be collected from Gate 1, Gate 2, or the Kiss n’ Go. We have had to open the gate behind our
new Stage 3 building for KellyClub due to restrictions on their use of the new electric gates at the front of the school, but
this will not be opened at drop-off and collection time.
Lastly, please do not park your car on the verges. Doing so damages the verges, especially in winter, and can result in a
potential fine from Melton City Council.
Your cooperation in this matter is requested for the safety and well-being of all our children.
Yours sincerely,
Bill Hill
