Two lucky students were the first to try on St Lawrence of Brindisi’s new school uniform ahead of the schools opening in Weir Views next year.

Principal Bill Hill said revealing the uniform was another important milestone with construction almost complete and the school nearly ready to welcome families.

“Despite the interruptions this year our fantastic team of builders has the school nearly ready. They are just putting the finishing touches on now and we are putting place plans to welcome our community to a picnic at the school before Christmas,” Mr Hill said.

“It will be a great chance for families to meet other families, their teachers and to have a look around the school buildings.”

“We are also planning some prep orientation sessions and will notify families about these soon.”

Mr Hill said the uniform was based around the school logo which was designed to be bright and contemporary, reflecting the new school community which will be a place of learning and welcome for all.

The main purple colour represents creativity, wisdom and peace which will be critical principles in the culture of the school.

“We brought together ten families to provide input and advice through the uniform design process and I would like to thank them for their input because I think we’ve come up with something that the kids are going to be really proud to wear,” Mr Hill said.

The $6 million stage one construction of St Lawrence is ahead of schedule and on track to be completed by 13 December.

Mr Hill said the school had been overwhelmed with enrolment enquiries and recently put on an additional class to cope with demand. This strong demand has also meant the school has recently been given approval, ahead of schedule, to proceed with stage two construction next year. Stage two will begin in March next year and will be completed January 2023.

St Lawrence’s is located at 31 Waterway Boulevard in the Weir Views estate. It is part of the Parish of St Anthony of Padua, Melton South and will work closely with sister school, St Anthony’s Primary School.
